Services

What we do on your lawn

Every program is built from these. Most can also be booked on their own for a lawn that isn't on a program yet.

  • Soil testing

Plugs from several spots, a lab sample and a one-page result in plain words.

    • Organic matter, pH and compaction

    • Repeated each spring on Build

  • Core aeration

A machine pulls plugs so air, water and roots can get down into clay.

    • Spring or early September

    • Plugs left on the lawn to break down

  • Overseeding

Seed goes into the aerated lawn so thin turf fills in before frost.

    • Kentucky bluegrass and turf-type fescue

    • A watering plan for new seed

  • Compost topdressing

A thin layer of screened compost worked into the turf feeds the soil.

    • Usually after seeding

    • Applied by spreader, not by shovel

  • Hand weeding and spot treatment

We pull what we can and spot-treat what we can't.

    • Broadleaf weeds in the lawn

    • Chelated-iron spot treatment, OMRI Listed

  • Seasonal feeding

Slow-release fertilizer matched to the soil test.

    • OMRI Listed fertilizer

    • Spring, late spring and late October

What we will not do

Four things you won't hear from us

A short list, so the program means what it says.

  • Synthetic fertilizers or herbicides

Not on any program. If a lawn needs more than we use, we'll say so before anything goes down.

  • A product with no label shown

Every product on your card is named by type, and the label is ours to hand over.

  • Application on frozen ground or standing water

The visit moves. We text you the new day.

  • A promise about next year's lawn

Soil changes over seasons, not weeks. The test shows where it is and where it's going.

Questions

Before you book a service

Which grass seed do you use?

A blend of Kentucky bluegrass and turf-type tall fescue for Front Range lawns. If your lawn is mostly fescue or has a shady corner, we'll say so in the estimate and match the blend.

Do you mow?

No. We give you a mowing height and a watering note at every visit, and your own mower or mowing service does the rest.

What should I do before you arrive?

Mow a day or two before, pick up hoses, toys and dog bowls, and leave gates unlatched or tell us the code. You don't need to be home.

Ready for a soil test?

We pull plugs, measure the lawn and write up what the soil needs.
